Hendershot “Thankful” and Records First TD With Hendershot
This happened to be National Tight Ends Day and Dak Prescott made sure that the Dallas Cowboys celebrated by leaning on their tight ends in order to beat visitors Detroit Lions in Week 7. Dalton Schultz returned to battle with a knee injury and take five opponents for 49 yards. the rookie Peyton Hendershot left his own impression on the victory of 24-6.
The non-drafted former Indiana player scored his first NFL touchdown during the 4th quarter after a takeaway and sack of another newcomer Sam Williams – to nail the coffin to the wall of Dallas Cowboys
“It was a blessing” “I cannot even put into words the meaning behind it. I’m blessed and thankful to be an Dallas Cowboy.”
Hendershot isn’t the only one in the game but.
The second rookie tight end Jake Ferguson, not far from Hendershot and Hendershot was the first player to rush over to greet the latter at the middle in the final zone. Ferguson scored his first NFL touchdown last week. In the midst of an comeback victory to the Cowboys against the Philadelphia Eagles.
The duo of just two years old has created history for the franchise 2022 being the first year in the history of the club. In which two rookie tight ends have scored touchdowns.
“One of the top rookie classes I’ve ever seen in my seven years in the league”. Said Dak Prescott of the talent he’s seen in Hendershot, Ferguson. In a similar vein and from other players such as Sam Williams, the defensive newcomer who has had an impressive performance in the game against the Lions.
It’s a blast to play for the five-game Dallas Cowboys as well as the incident Prescott faced. After he walked back to the sideline after throwing the touchdown over Hendershot.
“On the touchdown, the thing that’s funny is Jake [Ferguson] ran to the flat, and to the right , which is what was the initial read.” Prescott explained with a smile. “Jake’s reading the 2nd read. Then I noticed Peyton (Hendershot) in the rear in the zone of end, doing jumping jacks] so I decide to throw the ball. I was getting stuff along the sidelines like”Oh, why didn’t you do it for Jake. The score he had a big week?
“It’s National Tight End Day so let’s take care of them all. It’s great for two young men.”
Everything Hendershot realizes is on that particular play. He put his play awareness and ability to distinguish to the side on display. And there was nothing more to do but hoping Prescott could have seen him.
“We played the same game with the same motion and shift ,” said Hendershot. “I saw my player shoot the edge, and I ran the over and I was wide open. Nobody was in the vicinity. … Jake Ferguson was open too. I was thinking that [Prescott] was going to throw it to him , but the ball was thrown at me.
Could this be only the beginning of many?
“Yes Sir,” he replied.
